A Unique Experience for Scouts, Church, Seniors & Other Groups
Come to The Grove for a fun, unique, educational experience for your group. Scouts, church groups, seniors, camp groups, no matter what type of group you have, there is something at The Grove for you to enjoy.
Listed below are some of the programs you can schedule for your group to come and enjoy The Grove. We are also happy to work with you to accommodate special requests or assist in meeting scout badge requirements.
- Sleepovers: Did you ever wonder what happens at The Grove after dark? Come to stay the night in the Interpretive Center and find out! A night hike, stories around a campfire, popcorn and snacks fill your evening and we supply breakfast in the morning. Bring your sleeping bag and pillow! Fee: $20.00 per person/18 person minimum.
- Tales and Trails: If the smell of a campfire and a night hike appeal to your senses, you will enjoy this 1-1/2 hour program. You can toast marshmallows and snack on freshly popped popcorn while telling or listening to stories. Fee: $8.00 per person/15 person minimum.
- To Catch a Dream: American Indians made Dream Catchers to allow good dreams to pass through the talisman to reach the children while the bad dreams get caught in the web, never to bother the sleepers. You can learn about American Indian lore, customs, and will take home a Dream Catcher. A campfire and refreshments are included. Fee: $12.50 per person/15 person minimum.
- One Hour Nature Program: Designed for Scout groups, this program includes a tour of the Interpretive Center and trails is lead by a Grove staff member who will greet your group and guide them through our exhibits and trails. Snakes, turtles and other animals will be shown and discussed. Fee: $3.00 per person/6 person minimum.

2008 Summer Camp Field Trip Opportunities at The Grove
The Grove has several interesting programs available for visiting camp groups:
Summer History Tour
Come to The Grove for this interesting and educational program with hands-on activities for all ages. Your group will step back in time with our costumed interpreters to experience life as it was in the 1800s.
- Touch and learn about animals and Illinois' natural history in The Grove's Interpretive Center. Walk the trails and enjoy some of our 124 acres including the wetland walkway on the pond
- Visit our Native American Longhouse and participate in activities such as corn grinding and games
- Experience pioneer life in our authentic two-room cabin by helping with the daily chores
- Participate in lessons given by the school marm in our 1853 one-room school house and play with authentic recess toys
- Take part in a variety of pioneer demonstrations and hands-on activities at the restored 1856 Kennicott family home
Who: Ages 4 and up
Available Dates: June 16-August 15
Days/Times: M-F 10 am-2 pm (program length approximately 3 hours-flexible to accommodate group needs)
Cost: $6.50 per person (no charge for counselors)
Picnic areas are available on site.

Leapin' Lizards
Snakes, turtles, frogs and salamanders star in this exciting program about reptiles. A nature walk, hands-on learning and fascinating facts plus an entertaining activity round out each session.
Who: Ages 4 and up
Available Dates: June 16-August 15
Days/Times: M-F (program length approximately 1 1/2 hours)
Cost: $5 per person (maximum 60 children)

Mother Earth's Children
An appreciation of Native Americans is the focus of this program. Learn how they lived in and with nature. Children will be enlightened with Native American stories, grams and a lively dance.
Who: Ages 4 and up

Cost: $5 per person (maximum 60 children)

History Explorers
Step back in time to visit two historic Glenview sites: The Grove National Historic Landmark, 1421 Milwaukee Ave., and Wagner Farm, 1510 Wagner Road. Campers will spend an hour and a half at each location. Each site features ample bus parking and handicap accessible facilities. The Grove also has a picnic area available for your group to eat a sack lunch together.
The Grove - Step back in time with our costumed interpreters to experience life as a pioneer in the 1800s. Participate in pioneer demonstrations, tour our authentic two-room log cabin, help with daily chores and visit some of the other buildings and activities at The Grove. Programs are available for grades K-2 and grades 3-5.
Wagner Farm - Find out about rural Glenview farm life in the 1920s as you tour the farm house, chicken coop, orchard, crop field, barn and corn crib. Meet many of our animals and learn what it takes to care for and tend the farm's stock. This introduction to early 20th century farming will have campers taking part in chores and other fun farm activities.
Available Dates: June 16-August 15
Days/Times: M-F 10 am-2 pm (each program is 90 minutes long. Plan for 60 minutes to have lunch, transport, load and unload your group as they travel between the two sites)
Cost: $10 per person includes programs at both sites. Camp counselors & bus drivers free.
