2010 Summer Camp Field Trip Opportunities at Air Station Prairie
The Air Station Prairie will offer the following programs for visiting summer camps in Summer 2010:
A Mighty Wind
Most of the electricity that we use in Illinois comes from burning coal or through nuclear power-which are not always environmentally friendly sources. Learn about wind power as a safer energy alternative, as well as some of the other forms of alternative energy that are now available. Campers will construct a kite and then take it outside to see wind power in action!
Who: Grades 5-8
Available Dates: June 14- August 13
Days/Times: M-F (Program length 1.5 hours)

Recycling 101
Learn what happens to items after being placed in the trash-you’ll be surprised to find out how long some things can last in a landfill! Campers will learn to identify what can and cannot be recycled through interactive games and activities. We’ll discover why recycling is so important, what can be made from recycled materials and ways we can reduce our waste at school and at home.
